HEALTH AND SAFETY

The safety of our visitors and staff is our utmost concern, therefore Morven is following all CDC and local health official guidelines. We will be monitoring the guest load in the museum and will limit attendance based on safe movement of all our guests. If we are at or near capacity, you will be informed before you purchase your ticket.

These procedures may change as we learn new guidelines from national or regional sources.

You may arrange to have your party of up to 12 guests visit the galleries without any other visitors in the Museum for $200 an hour. Please contact our Museum Shop for details at shop@morven.org or 609-924-8144 x 103.

General Museum Guidelines

Please help the museum staff protect the historic collections and works of art on view in the museum by following the rules listed below. We appreciate your help keeping the collections safe so that they may be enjoyed by many generations to come!

  1. Photography is permitted on the first floor. No flash, tripods, or selfie sticks are to be used in the museum. Please check with Visitor Services regarding photography in our changing second floor galleries. Commercial photography must be authorized by the Museum’s administration.

  2. Please refrain from touching items in the collection. Your touch may not seem like much, but even the slightest contact can damage the surface of a painting, discolor stone, and even rust metal.

  3. Keep a safe distance between you and each work of art. This helps to avoid accidental touching or bumping.

  4. No leaning on collection furniture or cases (either to write or for physical support). This helps keep historic collections and works of art safe. Feel free to sit on provided benches or chairs.

  5. Running, pushing, and roughhousing are not allowed in the museum. Appropriate museum behavior is necessary to avoid accidentally bumping into and damaging historic collections and works of art.

  6. No food, beverages, snacks, plants, or use of ink pens allowed.

  7. No smoking, open flame, or weapons of any type are allowed in the museum.

  8. No strollers or baby carriages may be brought into our galleries. This helps to avoid accidentally bumping into and damaging the Museum’s collections. Strollers may be left on Morven’s covered porch.

  9. Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult or a member of a supervised group. Please keep small children within your direct control.

  10. Only small bags are allowed in the museum and all bags and backpacks must be worn on the front.

  11. Persons who do not comply with our rules will be asked to leave. Those who refuse to leave will be escorted off the property by the Princeton Police Department.

Thank you for your cooperation. Please address any questions regarding our policies to our Visitor Services staff.
